On the 23-27 September 2019 Kristina Blaževičienė, Head of Library, participated in Erasmus Staff Mobility Week for Librarians at The National Distance Education University (UNED) in Madrid, Spain.
UNED is one of the largest universities in Europe, it has the largest student population in Spain – more than 205,000 students. UNED has as its mission the public service of higher education through the modality of distance education. It is the leader in the implementation of cutting-edge technologies applied to learning, with the largest offer of virtual courses in Spain.
17 librarians of academic institutions from different countries took part at Staff Mobility Week. During this week all participants presented home institutions and shared good practice experience, had presentations about UNED library and library research support services, attended seminars and discussions about challenge for libraries in a digital environment, about libraries cooperating in order to face new challenges. Participants had a visit to UNED Archive, also had a crash course of Spanish language. During the visit many different libraries were visited: UNED Central and other faculty libraries, National Library of Spain, Senate library, Library and Documentation Centre of the Reina Sofía Museum.
The intensive Staff Mobility Week for Librarians at UNED was full of new international experiences and knowledge, it was a great possibility to meet colleagues from other academic libraries from different countries and to improve professional competencies and international communication skills.
