Visit to the Université Paris-Saclay, France

On 5-8 June 2023 Renata Markauskienė, Head of the Library of the Faculty of Health Care, participated in the staff training week at the Université Paris-Saclay, France, within the framework of the ERASMUS+ programme.

During the library session, representatives of 6 higher education libraries from Croatia, Hungary, Spain, Latvia and Lithuania visited the Orsay Library and heard presentations on the Paris-Saclay University Library, the Numaclay Digital Library, subscriptions to electronic resources, and ongoing open access projects. The librarians’ group actively participated in a discussion on the social role of academic libraries in modern society, and discussed the current challenges faced by academic libraries, staff and users.
During the Erasmus+ Staff Training Week, the projects and activities presented by Paris-Saclay University demonstrated good practices in the areas of openness, innovation, community, internationalism, digitisation, social responsibility and strategic partnerships. Discussions during the library session revealed that all libraries (the VC library and higher education libraries in other European countries) face similar challenges. The sharing of experiences was an excellent way to analyse them, to clarify them and to adopt appropriate solutions.
