Internship of the Head of the Library of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of Granada

From May 5–9, 2025, Virginija Pleskienė, Head of the Library of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies, participated in the International Staff Training Week organized by the University of Granada (Spain) as part of the Erasmus+ program.

Founded in 1531, the University of Granada comprises 22 faculties and 21 research institutes. Its 47,000 students can choose from 89 bachelor’s, 108 master’s, and 28 doctoral study programs.

The International Week brought together 22 librarians from 3 continents and 17 countries. Participants attended 31 reports and 9 presentations. Lively discussions followed thought-provoking topics, such as the implementation of digital document lending in EU countries, library information campaigns, and artificial intelligence in Spanish libraries. A highlight of the event was the exhibition by the Rare Books Department of the University of Granada Library, which featured old books from the countries of all participants that are preserved in the library.

University of Granada professors shared insights on multiculturalism, the university’s power to influence society, science policy within the university, and in Spain as a whole.

During the International Week, participants visited libraries of four faculties as well as several cultural and historical sites in the city. They became familiar with the University of Granada Library’s strategy, structure, information resources, and training organization. Participants also introduced their own libraries. Presentations from countries such as Lebanon, Nigeria, and Cape Verde were particularly engaging.

During the event, the Head of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies Library presented Vilniaus kolegija and its library. She returned from Andalusia with a broadened cultural perspective, new professional contacts, and deepened knowledge in her field.
