On May 18-22, 2026, Renata Markauskiene, Head of the Library of the Faculty of Health Care, participated in a staff training week at the Poznan University of Technology Library, Poland, under the Erasmus+ program.
During the week, there was an opportunity to learn more about the work of different library departments, their daily activities and work organization. The work of circulation and reading room, acquisition and cataloging, communication and information technology, and science information departments was observed more closely. Library staff shared their experience, explained their responsibilities, and introduced ongoing activities and initiatives.
The library’s digitization projects, institutional repository management, and the self-pickup station and its integration into library services were presented. Discussions also covered challenges related to the new library information system, user training, events, educational activities, and innovative solutions aimed at improving library services and making them more accessible to the community.
During the visit, not only the library of the Poznan University of Technology was visited, but also the university campus, flight simulator, rectorate, the Raczynski Public Library, as well as the Rogalin Palace-Museum, library and picture gallery.
Participation in the Erasmus+ training week at the Poznan University of Technology Library provided valuable knowledge, practical experience, and new ideas. The presentation about Vilniaus kolegija Higher Education Institution and its library received great interest from the university library staff. Participants were interested in the library’s activities, projects, and services. Their interest in visiting Vilniaus kolegija in the future and learning from the practical experience of the VK library staff highlighted the importance of professional cooperation, knowledge sharing, and strengthening international relations.
